RAAL La Louvière wants to bring Samuel Bastien back to Belgium. The midfielder is in the spotlight of the Walloon club, which is conducting advanced talks about a return to the Jupiler Pro League. For Bastien, it would be a next step after a particularly turbulent period, in which he even narrowly escaped death. Bastien settled in Fortuna Sittard in mid-2024, but his life in April 2025 was turned upside down. The midfielder was struck by a stroke and was even in a coma for three days. After a long and intense rehabilitation, Bastien however fought his way back step by step. In mid-December, he made his comeback in the Fortuna shirt. It then remained with a few short substitute appearances, but a fixed role was no longer in sight. A departure seems to be imminent. For Dutch fans, Bastien is therefore no stranger. The Belgian midfielder with Congolese roots received his youth training at RSC Anderlecht and broke through as a professional at Standard Luik, where he played more than a hundred official matches. He also played for KAA Gent and earlier played in Italy.
